Community Engaged Research Training Sep 5 Written By Aislinn Droski On Thursday, August 31st, the CCRC hosted their first training for faculty, researchers, and practitioners to learn about the basics of community engaged research and how to incorporate it into their careers and projects! The training was led by Ronica Rooks and Virginia Visconti, and began with an empathy game, where participants were encouraged to discover how they connected to one another through shared interests, hobbies, and life events. The training then covered the different forms of community engagement in research and other types of project can take, how to build different kinds of partnerships, and then broke participants up into groups to tackle different scenarios taken from things Dr. Rooks has learned from past community engaged research scenarios. The slides for this session are linked below and contain many helpful definitions regarding community engagement and community-based research!
